Open Show - 26th November 2006
Results & Judge's Critique

The Southern Border Collie Club held an Open Show at the Larkfield Village Hall, Aylesford, Kent on Sunday, 26th November where I had the pleasure of going over some quality dogs. There were a few absentees due, no doubt, to the torrential downpour and hazardous conditions. Thank goodness we were indoors. One poor exhibitor had his car hit by lightning and I was fortunate to even get to the venue. About to join the M25, the police had just closed the anti-clockwise section due to a major accident – five minutes earlier and I would still be waiting in the queue! A quick detour clockwise, and apart from, at times, travelling at 20mph with the wipers full on, made it with plenty of time to spare.
I though presentation throughout was excellent – my hands at no time needed a wash – and temperament was exceptionally good. Licks galore – from the dogs, that is - and with a well laid-out ring, no reason for the exhibits not to open up on the move.
My grateful thanks to Karen Angier and her lovely committee, and to Jan and Keith Starkey for their sterwarding. Also, a nice touch in that a present was given to the Starkeys in recognition of all their hard work for the club as they are not on the committee, and many thanks for my present. As soon as I heard the slurping from within the box, I knew I was going to like it! 13% proof, too!
