Thank you to Karen for the invitation to judge at this lovely show. The atmosphere is always so welcoming and relaxed. Thank you also for the super gifts for me and my team The weather was unexpectedly kind to us with very little rain and the ground was super for working on. Loads of thanks to my good friend Sandy for stepping in at the last minute to steward and forgo working her own dog. As to be expected the standard was variable, some teams more than ready to move up to C but just making silly mistakes on the day and some clearly unsettled with B heelwork and needing help. Also a couple of handlers forgot that this is a HOBBY and over-reacted to their dog's mistakes!! My poor steward was horrified and deserves an apology.
The absolutely best HW of the day was Lesley and her GSD Ria, stunningly mesmerising, especially slow pace, then did her won thing in SA, but that's dogs for you.

At the end of the day the happiest bunnies were:

1st. Goldfly Spirit In The Sky Of Athyrium. Italian Spinone B. Lost 10½. Congratulations on your 3rd B win, a very accurate round, the weakest part being slow pace. Bola is a very steady worker, as no doubt reflects her heritage, finishing with a very good Scent in windy conditions to clinch this place. Very well done and good luck in C.

2nd. Sabrefield Ablaze At Daelois. Malinois D. Well, this handler was going to train Teak, but I am pleased that she chose to show me what her lovely dog can do instead. Lost 12½ and won r/o from the next dog. Super HW, really committed and this put you in a strong position despite a messy SA, which was much better in the r/o. As he settles in to B work I am sure he will continue to do well. Good luck and well done.

3rd. Trimac Flintlands Blue Chip Jagger. WSD D. Also lost 12½. Super keen dog, HW errors mainly due to trying too hard and I am sure that you will soon be winning. Well done Eileen and good luck for the rest of the season.

4th. Jarysmystic Magic Spell. WSD B. The first girlie in the line up, also lost 12½. Handler lost marks in fast pace for not maintaining a consistent speed. Slow pace was very good indeed and SA spot on, but less good in r/o. Well done and good luck.

5th. Xanthos Sage Of Bersinkiac. Golden Retriever D. Lost 15. Not yet 4 years old and what a prospect! Fiona teaches very good HW and no doubt the interesting variations in set exercises are due to Golden humour! Seriously, don't rush him, he will be wonderful. He has super commitment and as he matures I am sure he will go on to grace the Ticket ring. Well done and good luck.

6th. Rhealey Magini Fico. GSD D. Also lost 15. Sorry Linda, couldn't find you for the r/o, hope you got your rosette OK. Absolutely beautiful HW and we will not mention Scent!! At only 3 years old another youngster who should go all the way. Well done and good luck.

The Club kindly also gave a Judge's Special which I presented to Fiona and Mallenbrook Macho Mutineer for his lovely final performance, enjoy a long and happy retirement Taco.

Thank you to all the competitors, we were not kept waiting at all. I only took about 40 minutes for lunch, so that we could hopefully avoid any poor weather and we took the tent down at about 5 pm in what felt like a Hurricane. Thank you Ian for saving us from being carried away like Dorothy and Toto!! Enjoy your dogs and ensure they enjoy your hobby.
