Open Obedience Show 1/7/2007
Class C - Judge's Report
Judge: Celia Vines
Steward: Margaret Garland
Scoreboard: Valerie Poupard
Entries 38 - 29 ran
Having gone to stay nearer the venue, what a friendly welcome my steward and myself received, the show was well organised and all fell into place with no problem. The competitors were a good bunch. On seeing the ring provided (the largest I have ever seen at a show) as this was a 'C' I cut it down a little. The competitors still had plenty of room. No complaints anyway.
The catering was super from breakfast through to tea and cake to travel home. The gifts for Margaret and myself were very useful. Thank you very much for everything, Margaret as usual for a clear sounding steward.
1st. Miss A Strachan and Hanans Pure Gold - GR. Lost 8½. As this bubbly bitch came into the ring I wondered how much control the handler had, what a lovely bitch, tried hard to please the handler all the time. I wrote on my sheet "careful with your body movements", you are looking like a partnership, well done. Good luck for the future.
2nd. Ms D Harrild and Tenita Blue Moon - WSD. Lost 9. An exuberant retrieve cost you today, but you have a very lively young man to work, producing a good round. Well done on this place.
3rd. C Paris-Brown and Shepers Typhoon Tracker OW - WSD. Lost 9½. Worked third and was still wound up, so the odd bark to start was costly. You cannot signal as well with your head to do the positions, the dog did them so don't look extra as well. Well done on this place. Good luck.
4th. Ms J Rock and Featherstone Ty - WSD. Lost 14. Lovely work, I do think the noise of the main road just at the side of the ring did not help with the missed position. On another day the score would change for the better. Well done.
5th. Miss B Short and Classic Magic Charm - WSD. Lost 14½. Not much wrong with this team, would like to see this team with the handler giving no marks away, the dog does not need you to bend to help on turns. Hope you iron this out soon. Best of luck.
6th. Miss A Davis and Dunnslayne Olop - BC. Lost 15. As you already know, sort the retrieve out as the rest of your work is coming on well. All the best.
A special was given to Trimac Flyntlands Drifter WSD for realising the dog was fazed by a lot of sudden noise from the roadway, and helped him to overcome and leave the ring happy. Well done.
