Border Collie Of The Year 2007 ~ Judges' Comments

Les Crawley
If there is anything better than getting a good dog under your hands it's getting more than one dog under the hands.
And that certainly occurred at Border Collie Of The Year.

This was a most prestigious and impressive event, so beautifully organised and smoothly run from beginning to end.

As a (somewhat guiltily not-very-active) Vice President of the Southern Border Collie Club, I was delighted to be one of the panel of judges and enjoyed my day enormously in excellent company.

Visual presentation and grooming of both dogs and handlers were extremely good which added greatly to the day. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and temperaments, again, of both dogs and humans was first class.

Our Border Collie Of The Year looked the part as did the handler who had previously been chosen as the Best Dressed lady. I was so pleased for them both.

I don't feel it appropriate on such an occasion to be over critical - we can find fault with any dog if we try - but may I say just two words viz. rear movement?

I was well looked after by the officials and my super steward, Keith Starkey, but I must also sincerely thank the exhibitors for their friendly attitude which made it such a happy and memorable day for me.
