Open Obedience Show 11th May 2008
Class A Part 3 - Judge's Report

Judge: Jan Cook
Steward: Marion Clarke
Scoreboard: Jody Jakeman
49 entries ~ 36 ran ~ 9 NFC

I was happy to be asked to judge at this lovely show, there always seems to be a really nice atmosphere. The whole team of committee and club members were really well organised and made it all look so simple. Thank you for the invitation to judge and for refreshments, lunch and terrific pressies. Big, big thank you to Marion for impeccable stewarding and for making the competitors feel at ease, also to Jody for scoreboarding, well done. Must also thank Charlie Webley as Chief Stay Steward. Finally we had some really good competitors in today, although not necessarily in the line up, it was easy to spot some good teams for the future.

1st. ARO Goldsmill She's A Lady (GR) Ann Cook.
Delighted to award the red one to you, the 1st 'A' I believe. Original round of footwork was a joy, run off not so great, but a really good retrieve was the decider. Congratulations also, as I understand you won a 'B' as well today. Well done!!

2nd. Canen Sabre Of Berbon (BC) Beth Hewlett.
A good scent put you in contention for 1st place, and although your H/W in R/O was better that the winner the retrieve was a real mess. Banner is such a steady little lad, when he has a bit more confidence, I am sure he won't put a foot wrong.

3rd. ARO Moonspinner Spirit Chaser (BC) Julie Nankivell-Long.
This is a dynamic team with bags of potential. Enthusiasm probably got the better of Chaser which gave him a swinging rear. I am sure he is going to be a star.

4th. Murvagh Finn McCool (Papillon) Caroline Lloyd.
This little lad - Solly - has been really well trained and held a good position, a chew on the dumbbell and your hand movement was costly, but nevertheless, well done and good luck.

5th. Olantigh Ritual Magick (GSD) Sally Porter.
Crabbing out plus your shoulder on left turns cost nearly all the marks lost in the round. Sort these faults out and the sky's the limit!!

6th. ARO Trimac Celtic Ruairidh (WS) Mrs J Dixon.
Take away 2½ for your body movements and you would have been at the other end of the line-up!! Rory does not need your help, he is lovely. Have faith.

7th. Nobite Trial N Retribution (BC) Miss Holmes & Mr Sawyer.
Worked by his mum, Loki's twitchy bottom cost the marks. However still only a youngster and with calm steady handling he will be getting more than the Judge's Special rosette!

Must also mention Chris Blenkinsop with Bluefizz Let It Bea. This was a cracking round that went all to pot in the retrieve. Here's to better luck next time.
