Open Obedience Show 11th May 2008
Beginner D/B - Judge's Report

Judge: Beryl Nankivell
Steward: Ann Davis
Scoreboard: Thomas Nankivell-Long

What a day - beautiful but very hot. My first big thanks must go to my steward Ann and my score boarder Thomas who both controlled everything and made my life a lot easier. It was Thomas's first attempt at score boarding, taking over from his sister Victoria who was unable to be with us today due to exams and he did a great job.

Seconding my thanks to the Southern Border Club committee for asking me to judge, it is a lovely show and the committee and their helpers make everybody so welcome. To the competitors sorry for the run-offs.

1st. ARO Flynntastic Fly By (WS) Miss F Mears. Lost 2½.
Fly is a lovely brown and white working sheepdog and when he came into the ring with Fiona, she actually played with him and Fly responded by giving his mum his full attention. I was very pleased that you managed to stop the jumping up on the heelwork in the run-off, it made such a difference. Well done to you both especially as I understand this was your second Beginners. Good luck in Novice.

2nd. ARO Dasher The Gnasher (WS) Mrs S Crawley. Lost 2½.
Codie and Sandra were a little unlucky to come up against the above dog today. Codie didn't work quite as well in the run-off and could anybody blame her in the heat.

3rd. ARO Bamboozle Red Devil (BC) Mrs D Hook. Lost 4¼.
Mylo is actually related to the winner of this class, he worked a lovely round, just lost marks on silly things but he had one of the quickest recalls of the day, a really nice dog. Well done to you both and I think Doreen was very pleased with her rosette.

4th. ARO Marching Ivy (BC) Mrs J Catlin. Lost 4¼.
Bonnie gained this place as she worked better off lead than on, a very nice little dog. Again her mum was very pleased to gain this place and to receive a rosette.

5th. ARO Cabals Mystical Illusion (BC) Mrs D Judge. Lost 5.
Chevey tried really hard for Dawn today, just lost out on a higher place with crooked sits and pushing the dumb-bell on. Good luck to both of you in the coming year.

6th. ARO Tilemash Nike (WS) Mr E Oughton. Lost 5.
Nicky and Eddie gained their place in the line-up by having a clear recall, and again another dog that worked better off lead. Well done to you both in all that heat.
