Open Obedience Show 11th May 2008
Novice Part 1 D/B - Judge's Report

Judge: Indira Helsby
Steward: Julia Milligan
Scoreboard: Karen Pudney & Brian Olby
59 entries ~ 40 ran

Many thanks to SBCC for inviting me to judge at your show, and thanks to Julia for stewarding for me so efficiently. I must thank Karen and Brian for stepping in and scoreboarding when Vanessa couldn't make it as her baby was poorly. We had wall to wall sunshine all day with a cooling breeze, so not too bad for the dogs. As usual the club produced a lovely buffet lunch and we were given very useful presents at the end of the day.

1st. Forevermagic Tutti Fruitti (WS D) Chris King. Lost 2.
Small inaccuracies on heelwork with excellent set exercises made this team worthy winners. I gather that this was their second Novice win, they should do well in the higher classes. Well done.

2nd. Canen Sabre of Berbon (BC D) Beth Hewlett. Lost 2¼.
Minor inaccuracies in all exercises relegated Beth and Banner having held the lead for most of the day as they were in the running order. Beth has had to work very hard to get this dog out of Novice but they seem to be on a winning streak now.

3rd. Bluefizz Wonder Of You (X D) Sue Winter. Lost 2½.
A nice motivated dog which looks just like a collie. Should win out of Novice very soon with the work it showed today. Well done.

4th. Bendazle Barney Boy (WS D) Cathy Butler. Lost 2¾.
A super round from Cathy and barney. Just over-keenness causing a few blips, but a fantastic prospect for the future. Watch the noise, I think that it could get worse.

5th. Perfect Jaz Time (WS B) Pat Handfield. Lost 3.
The first bitch in the line up. Would have been on the same mark as the winner if it hadn't have been for the terrible presents. Pat said afterwards that Jaz had put her back out, so that explained it.

6th. Jackscrofter Zephyr (BC D) Karen Branthwaite. Lost 3¾.
Another keen collie who lost marks for a bit of crabbing and a sit on a LT. Again should not have a problem in winning out of Novice.

Judges Special: Julie Enright and Brechfa Silver Dollar GSD.
Julie came in the ring and trained her dog. He is a large GSD who obviously needs motivating and she certainly succeeded as the dog came out of the ring on a real high!

I felt that the standard today was very high, any of the dogs in the cards could have won, plus a few others who did not make the line up.
